Multiple Teeth Replacement
Rochester, NY

3D rendering of mouth with multiple dental implants from Dental Prosthodontics of Rochester in Rochester, NYWhen you lose multiple teeth, it can become difficult to perform various essential functions like chewing, speaking, and even smiling. At Dental Prosthodontics of Rochester, Dr. Isaac Kuyunov, working with surgeons, can replace your teeth with multiple dental implants, either by placing an implant in the individual empty tooth socket, or by creating a fixed bridge.

Why is Multiple Teeth Replacement Necessary?

Missing teeth can negatively impact your overall oral health. The gap left by missing teeth not just ruins the aesthetics of your smile but can result in several other issues, including:
•  Make your remaining teeth shift from their proper alignment, resulting in a crooked smile
•  Result in deterioration of the alveolar ridge, the bony ridge that houses your teeth, resulting in weak jawbone density
•  Makes cleaning your teeth difficult, making them more vulnerable to tartar and decay
•  Makes it difficult to chew properly, speak without a lisp, and smile with confidence.

Dental implants can address all of these issues and help you maintain your dental health while restoring your smile.

Below are a few things you need to consider when getting a dental implant.

Good Jawbone Density

To be eligible for a dental implant, you need to have good bone density in your jaw that can support the dental implant. Once your tooth is lost, the bone resorption in that area starts almost immediately, so if you are getting a dental implant after a long time, chances are that you may require bone augmentation therapy to build up strong bone.

To do that, we will make a small incision in your gums and pack it with the bone grafting material sourced from the lab, your own body, an animal, or a human donor. This material will help the bone in your jaw to develop, enabling it to support the dental implant.

Fixed Dental Bridges

If you have several teeth missing in a row, we recommend that you use fixed dental bridges. These prosthetic devices are supported by four to six implants on each arch and are equipped with multiple artificial crowns, which will sit comfortably on top of your gums. This is a less invasive and less costly procedure than having individual implants for each missing tooth.

Implant Failure

Although dental implants are the most effective teeth replacement option, they can also undergo implant failure if your oral hygiene and care is poor. If you do not clean your teeth well every day, plaque and bacteria will accumulate on the gums surrounding your implant, leading to infection. If this disease is allowed to progress, it will destroy the gum tissue as well as the supporting hard tissues surrounding the implants, shifting it out of place. This is known as implant failure.

As with all dental treatment, the key to success is good care. At Dental Prosthodontics of Rochester, Dr. Isaac Kuyunov and his staff will show you how to take good care of your dental implants and remaining teeth so that your implants can last for decades.
